Okay, so even though my faith in dating apps has been somewhat restored, without being dramatic, sometimes it seems like those apps are hazardous to one’s health.

If you are feeling the same, I am here to justify your feelings but also to point you in another direction.
All it takes is one look at James Eagle’s data visualisation to see the way people find ‘the one’ has changed.
The old ways are gone… or are they?
I’m here to suggest there might be a few other options.
It’s February, the month of love, and I am going to offer you a challenge.
Seven Pieces of Inspiration
Slightly inspired by the book, The Twelve Dates of Christmas, I have noted seven challenges just for you.
All you have to do is… pick your three favourites and complete them before the end of the month. (Don’t worry, I’ve put a few easy ones in there too.)
The February Challenge
Nothing To It
1. If you want to meet your partner, go outside! Go for a walk and make eye contact with two people that you find attractive.
2. Locate an independent cafe, relax and people-watch. (Sitting with your headphones on probably won’t inspire people to talk to you.)
3. Join 2 interest groups. Meetup is a great place to do this. (Side note: if you are like me and can’t bear the thought of running for fun, don’t join a running club.)
4. Go to a museum and take part in a group tour.
Moderate Work
5. Go to a bookshop. Pick up two books you would like to buy and ask an attractive person to choose which one you should purchase.
6. Check the football fixtures and go to a pub during a match. Sit near the screen. Football fans will talk to anyone if it’s about their team. (I know what you’re thinking. This will also work for other sports too.)
For The Brave
7. Go to a live event on your own. This has to be done with confidence and be ready to strike up conversations when you are at your seat and grabbing a snack.
Take A New Route
The February challenge will push you out of your comfort zone. And… you never know, it might help you meet the person you have been looking for.
If you’re brave enough to try it, comment on the challenge picture on Instagram.
And yes… if you’re reading this and February has come and gone, I dare you to try it anyway. 😉
