Turning Sales into a Machine

It takes a special skill to convert leads on a regular basis.

Here are three strategies I’ve picked up from reading The Ultimate Sales Machine.

Learning Never Stops

We spend the first portion of our lives learning multitudes of subjects.  It’s funny because often there’s this feeling that once you’ve finished school or university, that’s it! Our learning journey is finished!  But that’s not true.  Chet Holmes, the author of The Ultimate Sales Machine shares how important it is to have a ‘learning mindset’ and to enjoy learning.

Whether you are just starting in your field or are an expert, seasons change and planning in time to learn about new techniques, technology and strategies will be the first step to turning your sales into a true machine.

But it doesn’t stop there!  Anyone can go on a course but implementing the learning takes effort.

Before you begin the training course, allot a time slot. This time slot will take place after the course and will give you the opportunity to get time to think and plan how you will put the actionable steps in place, moving ideas into actual steps.

Tactics vs Strategy

From my experience, many people in business focus on one or the other.  Very few focus on both.  Tactics are techniques that focus on the short-term.  Strategy is the map you use to get to the goal you are striving towards and therefore focuses on long-term planning. When put together, you are able to plan for the future and implement techniques to help you get there.

The tactics should be based on the strategy, helping you find a balance between thinking about what’s to come and what you need to do now.

Who Is Your Priority?

When selling, we often tell the client how great our service or product is.  In The Ultimate Sales Machine, Chet Holmes argues that could be counterproductive.

The customer might not always be right but they should always be put first.

The author shares his thoughts about why the reader should understand the customer’s needs are the priority.

When promoting your business instead of sharing how amazing your business is, try and explain why your product or service would serve the customer well.

The book The Ultimate Sales Machine is filled with 12 strategies to help the reader improve their sales.  The book is a masterclass on marketing, lead conversion and customer relations.  It has sections that are beneficial for those who are running a business on their own and those running huge corporations.

I would highly recommend the book to anyone working in business but until you’re able to read it, I hope these three strategies will help you turn your sales into a well-oiled machine.
