I can imagine that you have heard a fair few podcasts. Spotify has got around 7 million alone, but they don’t all match in… quality.
So to save you from scouring through Podcast Land, here are some recommendations that I’m fairly sure will become a constant addition to your favourites’ list.
What Now? with Trevor Noah
Trevor Noah’s podcast might easily become one of your favourites.
Firstly, in a very Trevor Noah fashion, it’s weird in the best way possible.
Some episodes are literally based around Trevor and his co-presenters and or guests discussing imaginary scenarios or having seemingly random conversations. Also, some episodes are standard interviews with well-known speakers, creatives and even politicians. This range alone keeps the show fresh.
One of the most appealing elements of this podcast is the fact that Trevor Noah is able to receive new information from his guests and analyse it instead of simply rejecting anything that does not fit within his worldview. And honestly, I think this is a skill that modern society has rejected, but we could bring back to the current culture we are shaping.
Also, these seemingly random conversations that Trevor Noah has with his co-presenters or guests always get to a point where they are able to simplify ideas that often seem abstract or difficult to describe.
The Diary Of A CEO
If you know me, you know I’m a Steven Bartlett fan, and if it isn’t already, The Diary Of A CEO could pop its way to the top of your favourites’ list. This is because he treats his audience as intelligent individuals.
Steven Bartlett will gladly interview different experts from the same field, knowing that all of their data and opinions are not identical. But he knows something: his audience are not followers, they are learners. Learners take information, sift it and do further research.
His ability to trust his audience’s intelligence is what makes the podcast intellectually stimulating, and his scholarly audience probably wouldn’t argue with you.
The Dr. Hyman Show
Dr. Hyman is a functional doctor who hosts the podcast called The Dr. Hyman Show.
Anyone who has tried to get treatment for a non-standard medical issue will know that you often have to do your own research. (Our medical system is great, but it’s not perfect.) And of course, I don’t mean just randomly watching videos from influencers online, I mean gaining information from reputable sources.
You might not agree with every single point Dr. Hyman makes on his podcast, but that’s never the goal. His podcast helps listeners to widen their views on diet, lifestyle and medicine, helping even those who are struggling within the medical system and those who simply want to improve their health. This alone makes it a worthy listen.
If you are looking for a podcast that widens your scope, these three podcasts will do that. They help their listeners gain information while treating them as equals instead of novices… and of course, they are highly entertaining.
