Like the typical single, I’ve been on a few dating sites that cater for specific audiences: Christian dating apps, apps designed to protect women from receiving unwanted messages (thank you, Bumble), and apps that are just a free-for-all that make you feel like you’re living in the Wild West.
Regardless of the app, there are a few things that always seem to pop up: men with terrible dating profiles.
Men! It’s Time to Edit Your Dating Profile
The Nature Lover
I’m not a nature fan. Many women, however, are. With that being said, it might sound obvious, but when picking your default profile picture, instead of using a picture of a mountain or a tree (or insert random scenery idea here), use a picture of yourself.
Tip: If you’d like to include a scenery picture, go for it, but… make sure it’s your second or third picture. Putting it first does not always send the right message and can make you seem insecure. Show yourself off instead!
Be Real
Use a real photo. Many men’s profiles include pictures from ten (or dare I say even more) years ago. Unless you’re Pharrell Williams, and you literally age backwards, use a current one. Most people aren’t looking for a model. They just want to know who they are talking to and what the person really looks like.
Send Help!
Some profiles online have three-word descriptions.
On the other hand, there are a few that can only be described as cringe.
To avoid this, send help! Get a friend to look at the description you have written in your profile to make sure you have struck the right balance.
Be Honest
Are you searching for something long-term or something else? Make a decision and put that in your profile. This way, you are more likely to attract what you are looking for.

Men, there are so many of you who are lovely and are searching for the right partner. I hope these small tips will give you the nudge to edit your profiles and maybe even find the women you are looking for.
