I realise that not everyone is like me. Some people have got the kind of relationship with their parents that they can watch anything together, even shows that are explicit.
But as old as I am, let’s just say shows like our beloved Bridgerton are reserved for when I’m chilling with friends.
I have, however, found a few shows that I could watch with my mum and believe me, they are actual crackers.
Paradise
Honestly, I would possibly watch any series Sterling K. Brown stars in. I’m not sure if he knows how to do things by halves and I’m truly grateful. The writing team clearly decided to create an applaudable story, containing relatable characters. The icing on the cake was the few things in the storyline that I did not expect to happen. I’m looking forward to the next season.
Love Is Blind: Sweden
As much as reality TV is not everyone’s thing, I had to add this show to the list. As a serial LIB watcher, I think that not only is the Swedish version ‘mum friendly’ but it’s possibly one of the most down-to-earth versions I’ve watched. Season two especially contains a few personalities that might open your view of people in the world and your view of romantic and platonic relationships. And for those of us who don’t speak Swedish, of course, the show is dubbed.
Abbott Elementary
Well, I had to throw a comedy in there. Abbott Elementary is a show set in a school. It has got tons of dry humorous moments that are so well-timed, so much so that I’ve banned myself from eating while watching Abbott Elementary (choking hazard for real).
The way the writers have incorporated multitudes of characters who are literally polar opposites makes the show not only entertaining but also a good reminder that not everyone in our environment has to be exactly like us.
These are the shows I have watched and loved that are mum-friendly. Tell your mum to get the popcorn. Happy watching!
